Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation Review

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation is ❀️!

Before we get on to it, I just want to make it clear that this is not a sponsored post, I was not asked to make this review. I did so because I can and I want to.😁

So, I’ve finally used the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation enough, along with the concealer and the powder, to be able to make an accurate and unbiased review and I’m so excited!😁

Not Oily! Thanks to Fit Me Matte!😊

First things first, let me tell you about my skin. I have super oily skin, and if you’ve been following me on Instagram, then you’ll notice that most of the time, my forehead is shiny, because it’s the hugest part of my face and the oil just wants to party up in there!πŸ˜‚

How Oily is Oily?

How oily is my skin? Like if you collect the oil my forehead alone excretes, that’s enough to deep fry a kilo of chicken legs. Seriously, no exaggeration!😣 It’s been a problem, this has been one of the reasons why I steered clear of foundations, because what’s the point when my face is just going to melt it off anyway.

Melting it off is the good part, but some foundations actually clog my pores and then cause a nasty break out, so I just skip the foundation and stuck to BB creams for the longest time. Although most of the time a good BB cream is all I need, but because my face is oily, it doesn’t last that long too.πŸ™

It’s annoying to have to be in an event, like a wedding or a really special occasion, where your face is supposed to last for at least 4 hours, so you look good in photos, and mine only lasts like 2 minutes, for real.πŸ˜ͺ

It came to a point where I just stopped caring and just accepted the fact that my forehead wants to shine and the best thing I can do is wear a really good lipstick, make sure my eyebrows are on point and just rock the oily look.πŸ˜‚

Then I chanced upon this Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation on one of Carli Bybel‘s make up tutorials back in 2015. I love Carli Bybel, I’ve been watching her since 2012 when I chanced upon her Megan Fox Make Up tutorial on YouTube and I’ve been following her ever since.😘

Anyway, after watching Carli Bybel’s tutorial, I quickly did a Google search and back then Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation wasn’t available in the Philippines yet, boo-hoo.πŸ˜₯ So years passed and last month, as I was walking to the new and revamped SM Store Baguio, I saw it on the Maybelline Make Up counter. There were so many people over at the Maybelline Make Up counter, I had to circle around 3 times before I was finally able to make it on the counter, and thankfully when I got there, the flock of people have left.πŸ˜€

There it was, taunting me, “Find Your Fit”, it said to me, so I was like, “Okay then.”, I was standing in front of the rows of Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundations, stuck between the shades 120 (Classic Ivory) Β and 128 (Warm Nude).πŸ€”

Then the Maybelline Lady came to me and asked what I was looking for. She looked at my hands as I held up shade 120 and 128 and she looked at me, smiled and said, “I think you’re a shade 120 po.”. She opened the bottle so I could swatch it, I swiped some on my neck and voilΓ , what do you know, I am a shade 120.☺️

I'm a shade #120!

You must think, I should have known I was a shade 120. I am after all so white, butΒ foundation can be tricky. The reason it intimidated me so much then and why I never bothered with it, was because of how misuse can seriously turn your look from hot to not in seconds.

Think espasol back in the 90’s.πŸ˜‚

I Found My Match!

It was such an amazing feeling to have finally found the perfect foundation for my skin tone and skin type!😁 That’s right, the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation doesn’t just match my skin tone perfectly, it’s also perfect for my skin type!😊

As mentioned I have extremely oily skin and this one is made for people with normal to oily skin as it has a matte finish. If you’re within that range and you don’t like the extra shine, the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation is worth giving a try.

I don’t retouch my face at all when I go out, even if it’s just powder,Β because ain’t nobody got time for that.πŸ˜‚Β So my face when I leave the house is my face for the entire day until I come home.πŸ˜…

Testing out the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation

So on a regular Sunday out with the family, we usually leave the house before lunch and come home around 9pm, so I’m very impressed with how my face kept the entire time we were out. It’s not completely shine free, but the oil was mostly kept at bay.

The Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation

I don’t have very large pores, but this does say Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation, I suppose it blurs pores too. As for spot coverage, for me, I’d say it’s Medium coverage. It can hide light to medium spots but I found that for some of my darker spotsΒ (newly healed pimplesπŸ˜“), I had to use the concealer for it to be truly be unnoticeable.

I don’t like putting a lot of stuff on my face, so the fact that this only offers medium coverage is kind of a downside for me, because then I’d have to use a concealer, but then again, like they say, you can’t have it all.

Also, I wish it came in a pump bottle as I find it so hard to control the amount of product I get when I tip the bottle over to get some product out, it always ends up being too much or too little, it can be annoying especially when I’m rushing!πŸ˜“

It is non-comedogenic, which means it will not clog your pores, so although it covers and keeps oil at bay quite well, it won’t result in nasty breakouts. I’ve been using this for 4-6 weeks now and I didn’t break out. I did get a pimple on my chin, but I think that was because of the crimson tide.😁

The Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation retails for 399Php, not bad if you ask me. It’s definitely one of the most affordable foundations out in the market today.

In a nutshell:

What I like about it:

  • Keeps the oil at bay
  • Medium Coverage
  • Not Sticky
  • Affordable
  • Easy to Apply
  • Matches my skin tone and skin type

What I don’t like about it:

  • Medium Coverage
  • Does not come in a pump bottle

Will I buy it again:

  • DEFINITELY! Did I mention I have freakishly oily skin and this is by far the only product that has kept my forehead matte and shine free most of the day, so of course there was some shine, it wasn’t as excessive as when I only use a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer. Don’t believe me, check out my selfies over at my Instagram account and see the difference. 😁
