OA at Pilipinas Popcorn's 1st Year Anniversary Celebration

“O” and I are so grateful to have been able to celebrate your first birthday with you!๐Ÿ˜Š Cheers to many more years and more events in the future!๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŽ‰

For those of you who don’t know Pilipinas Popcorn yet, well, grab a bucket of popcorn ๐Ÿฟ and read on…๐Ÿ˜‹

Pilipinas Popcorn is an online lifestyle magazine. So because it’s an online Lifestyle magazine, they’ve got content on food, entertainment, travel, lifestyle and many more. The one thing they do that separates them from all the rest is that they have a section dedicated to our beloved Baguio City. Very apt for a lifestyle online magazine that is born (conceptualized), bred (nurtured) and raised (still growing) in Baguio City, is to, of course, have a section about Baguio City. So if you’d like to learn more about what Baguio has to offer, definitely check them out.๐Ÿ˜Š

They’ve only started in September 16, 2016 and already they’ve reached a million views, and that’s a big deal for an online publication that’s based in our little city!๐Ÿ˜Š Perhaps it’s not a big deal to some people, but it’s a milestone nonetheless and one that I too, am proud of for the team Pilipinas Popcorn, keep on growing!๐Ÿ˜Š

“O” and I were at their first anniversary party, thanks to Chino ofย The Other Bloggersย for inviting us. This is definitely a start of a more active and unified blogging community in Baguio City, one that I have envisioned with my fellow co-founders of the now defunct Cordillera Bloggers group. Defunct? Because, well, we all grew old(ER) and now it’s time to pass it on to the younger generations.๐Ÿ˜‚

We are OA.

Oh, I’m still the blogging Queen of the North, so don’t fret, ๐Ÿ˜‚, “O” and I, along with the other oldie bloggers (I’m looking at you Dean and Xine.๐Ÿ˜‚)ย will still be here to support and “guide” the youngsters in their future endeavors, just like what we’re supposed to do as elders in the community.๐Ÿ˜‚

I know most people are raising their eyebrows thinking about why I call myself “Queen”, that’s a funny story, but just for the record, I didn’t just give myself that title, it was given to me by the members of the Baguio blogging community then, and people who know us enough know this, so please, take your hate somewhere else. Or just accept it. LOL. ๐Ÿ˜‚ย It’s this sort of thing that earns me haters but also makes me lovable, oh the irony.๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyway, back to the celebration, here’s a picture of me with Relyn and Chiki from The Other Bloggers. Damn I feel old.๐Ÿ˜…

The party was at Sala in The Camp, it’s a happening place in Baguio, frequented by, well, younger people.๐Ÿ˜‚ It’s where I hung out with Sam, Xine, Race and “O” when we had our pow-wow not too long ago, they have good finger foods and meals and their coffee is just 20 pesos a cup, and it’s good enough coffee, and the decor — so fun cause paintings are all over the ceiling, so you may want to look up from time to time.๐Ÿ˜‹

The party was graced by guests like Kim Meadows, formerly a KLite DJ in Baguio, now a KLite DJ in Manila, who read an amazing poem about being a “Life Ruiner”, that’s probably not the real title, it was sooo good. It was one of those, you-had-to-be-there kind of moments but OMG, that poem was amazing. It’s about this person who hurt you the most but you loved so much anyway and is basically the cause of why you’re f*c*ed up and broken and can never love really deeply again but also you realize they taught you the best lesson ever, which is, why you should never really be afraid to love anyway, it’s complicated. I told you it was one of those moments you had to be there for to be able to appreciate, plus, my understanding of it can be wrong, not wrong, but different from yours.๐Ÿ˜

Then there was Beverly Cumla. Who recited a powerful poem. In. Tagalog.๐Ÿ˜ณ She called it Jack En Poy, and it talks about how relationships start, work out, not work out and then end and how one moves on. Again, one of those moments you had to be there to be able to appreciate. It totally blew me away because at one point in time I was feeling what she was relaying in her story, in a few short minutes, she basically relayed the story of everyone’s failed relationships and we all can relate. Like wow. Just wow. It was amazing, you’ll probably see it online and if I see it, I’ll definitely share it!๐Ÿ˜Š

And then came along Dexter Paglinawan, who spoke about, basically, showing up, because people who show up, win.๐Ÿ˜ย His simple principle is “Just show up.”, because when you show up, you’ve already upped that somebody who didn’t.๐Ÿ˜ย Get it? It’s simple, just show up.๐Ÿค”

Up next was one of our good blogger friends from Manila, Azrael Coladilla of Azrael’s Merryland. The Uncle of Blogging.๐Ÿ˜‚ย Uncle is a term of endearment for older folks in Baguio, so it doesn’t necessarily mean a person has to be a sibling of a parent to be an Uncle. “O” is also an Uncle. So is Dean.๐Ÿ˜‚ย But I am not an Auntie. Not yet.๐Ÿ˜Œย Anyhoo, Az talked about the misconceptions of blogging and clarifies a lot of things about the blogging scene, in today’s time. Very timely indeed, and again, one of those moments you had to be there for.๐Ÿ˜ย Basically, he says what “O” and I have been blogging for anyway, blog because it’s something you love to do, it’s your passion and not just because you get stuff for free, sure the free stuff can be nice, but at the end of the day, a true blogger will be able to create good content, without freebies. So just like Az, our blogging principle is simple, we blog because we love it, not because we need or want free things. We don’t ask people/brands/establishments to give us stuff, they seek us out, because our review/opinion can’t be bought.๐Ÿ˜

It was so nice catching up with you a little bit Az!๐Ÿ˜Šย See you again soon!๐Ÿ˜Š

After all the fun chit-chatting, games were played and food was served and then alas, it was time to say good bye.๐Ÿ™ย But that’s alright, it was definitely an afternoon well spent, Congratulations again Pilipinas Popcorn,ย see you again soonย and more power to you!๐Ÿ˜Š

Hit me baby, one more time!
