#UbeXStrawberry, 2 of the most famous products Baguio is known for, and why shouldn’t it be? I’m a local and I love me my bottle of ube jam and although I don’t have it all the time, strawberries are ❤️.
This past weekend, EatsOA or Nothing! along with some of our foodie blogger friends spent mid-morning and most of the afternoon walking around SM City Baguio looking for the best places to get a fix of our Ube and Strawberry craving.
Very timely as SM City Baguio wants people to know that you can do more than just shopping, you can go on a food trip with your friends, like what we did!😋
We literally went on a food trip. We’ve gone from the upper basement to the 3rd floor, yes, that’s all the floors our SM has but we love it anyway.😁 Small as our SM may be as compared to other branches, I wouldn’t trade it for anything, it appeals to me because it still manages to keep it’s sort of quaint quality it has despite renovations going on and despite living in a modernized Baguio City.
#UbeXStrawberry Experience at SM City Baguio
Up first is La Lola Chureria
La Lola Chureria is located in the Lower Ground Floor, it’s just a small cart in front of Krispy Kreme and they serve, you guessed it Churros! These #UbeXStrawberry chocolate covered churros is a great alternative to the plain cinnamon and sugar churros or churros with chocolate dip. You can still opt to have a chocolate dip or any other flavored dip with it, but I liked it this way, because it’s simple but rock.😜
Then we headed on to Mak-makan Pasalubong
This is the perfect place to go to if you find yourself in Baguio but have no time to go to the market, because let’s face it, not all visits to Baguio can be chill and relaxing. Sometimes you may be here on a business trip, but fret not, you’ll still be able to get your family and friends authentic pasalubong treats, thanks to SM City Baguio and Mak-makan Pasalubong.😊
It’s also on the Lower Ground Floor, outside, next to the ATM Machines, you can’t miss it. Other than pasalubong treats, you can also find t-shirts, wood carvings and all kinds of gifts and souvenirs for your family and friends, it’s definitely worth checking out.
Before we went to our next destination, I just had to take a picture of these 2 ates at the SM Supermarket fruit stand who were fixing the strawberries on the bilao because it satisfied my OCD!😁
I mean seriously, look how amazing that stack is!!!😅
Next stop was at Krispy Kreme 2.
Remember this Double Chocolate Strawberry Cake? Well, if you’re not familiar, when I attended their second store in Baguio’s opening, they said that this is unique in Baguio, because of how Baguio (well, La Trinidad really😅) is known for growing strawberries, and so to highlight their stores here, they came up with something unique in their Baguio stores. So when you come to Baguio, this is one reason you should visit a Krispy Kreme branch, because you can try something out that you can only find here.🍩
#UbeXStrawberry Cakes at Vizco’s
Vizco’s is easily the most famous cake shop in the city. Everyone in Baguio and La Trinidad know about Vizco’s and if they don’t, they’re probably not born and bred in Baguio.😁 Their Strawberry Shortcake is to die for, like seriously, even when strawberries are not in season, they somehow make it work. So sometimes the strawberries are tart but then the sweetness of the chiffon cake and the frosting balances it out and it’s just amazing. If you’re in Baguio, it’s a must try!🍰
I love ube jam, but I’m not fond of ube cake, so although this is not my favorite cake, Vizco’s ube cake is the best I’ve tried. It’s not riddled with so much macapuno, like most ube cakes are, and it’s got that authentic Baguio ube jam taste. So if you’re in the mood for something other than chocolate cake, this one is a good choice, especially if you like ube.😁
Red Ribbon #UbeXStrawberry Cakes
I am crazy about their Cheesy Ensaimadas, so I can only imagine how yummy their Strawberry Cheesecake Ensaimada is.😋
The thing I love about Red Ribbon is that their cakes are budget friendly, so that anyone can enjoy them for any occasion. If you’re like me who likes to have sweets in the house, then you know what I’m talking about.😁
Sometimes I just buy their celebration cakes just because I like to have some good chocolate cake.😋
What goes best with #UbeXStrawberry cakes? Coffee.
Well, for me it is.☕️
This Purple Yam Cheesecake is fancy as f***. That’s Starbucks for you.😂 Taste wise though? It tastes like creamy ube with cheese, so if you like ube and cream cheese, you’d like this one. I think this will be perfect with the Cafe Mocha but that’s only because I am not a fan of frappes.
I don’t like frappes. I think they are an abomination to coffee.
That’s just me. To each his own.
I recently discovered that for hot days, an iced coffee is a good alternative, so I’ve been having that during our warm months.
I don’t think I’d feel the same about frappes though, I just don’t like them. The whipped cream, the syrup, ack — destroys the coffee!!!😵 But that’s just me, and please don’t try to convince me otherwise, many have tried, they have failed.😆 Other than
I’m stubborn I want my coffee as a match to my cake and not for my coffee to taste like cake, they’re also loaded with calories. But, if you like them, perhaps you can try Starbucks’ strawberry cream frappe, I hear they taste like strawberry shortcake.😁
Up next is J.CO
I’m a bit bummed that J.Co didn’t have an ube themed donut, like at this point I was like, give me more ube.😋 The Chocolate Caviar Strawberry is Lucas’ favorite and of course this made me think about him.
Then we went to Bean’s Talk
I discovered I liked iced coffee when I ordered an iced Caramel Machiatto at their Upper Basement branch in SM Baguio. It’s warm in the Upper Basement, so instead of going for a warm coffee like I normally would (that’s right I never get hot coffee, always warm, cause I love my tastebuds and I don’t want to burn them), I got an iced coffee and it was the best iced Caramel Machiatto I’ve ever had. And for only 95Php for a decent sized cup, like maybe a Grande of Starbucks, not bad right?😜
Anyway, that’s not why we went there but thought to let you know.😆
Figaro joins in the #UbeXStrawberry fun!
Except I didn’t see any ube. But there was this delectable looking strawberry cake.
Getting more sweet treats from Sweetmates
Finally! Some ube treats!😋 That Ube Flan cake? Amazeballs. That Ube Chocolate cupcake? Ube-amazing!😋 and that Strawberry Lemonade? Absolutely refreshing. Perfect thirst quencher for when you’re running around the mall for almost a whole day!😁
So if you’re in Baguio City, stop by SM City Baguio and go to these places to get an authentic #UbeXStrawberry fix and of course, experience more than just shopping.😁 Gimme a call too, I’d love to grab a coffee with you!😊
By the way, “X” means times, like multiplied.😅 So, EatsOA or Nothing! X Foodie Blogger Friends X More than just shopping at SM City Baguio = #DietAnotherDay!😁
