Sweetmates Cakes has managed to find a special way in my heart not only because they make scrumptious cakes and pastries (their brownies are to die for!😋), their owners and staff are freaking nice, it’s also locally owned and an original of Baguio City.😊
It makes me so proud that a Baguio owned and managed cakery/coffee house can make it amidst all the big coffee houses and cakeries opening left and right. They already have 3 branches in Baguio City, so yay Sweetmates Cakes!🤗
Eats OA or Nothing! along with X Marks the Spot for Good Baguio Foods, with some of the members of The Other Bloggers and WatWatWorld are so very happy to spend some time with you again and get re-acquainted with our old favorites and introduced to your new menu additions. Truly my sweet dreams were fulfilled!😁
What’s New with Sweetmates Cakes?
They’ve got a new look over at their SM branch everyone! They’ve added more plants outside, so al fresco dining is better. They also added a mini waterfall there, so it’s a very soothing and a calming place to hang out and enjoy good coffee and food with friends, family and colleagues.
You can also avail of a free massage from a licensed masseuse for a minimum purchase of 200Php, so not only do you get good food and drinks, you also get a massage, how great is that?!
All of the Sweetmates Cakes Branches have a Fibr Internet connection too, so you can hang out and still do the things you need to do online, this is so perfect for people like me who work online! I know where I’m going the next time there’s a brown/black out or when my internet starts acting funny!🙂

Dessert Comes First
Of course we start with dessert because that’s what Sweetmates Cakes is known for.😁 Although, I did save some of my cake to eat after the main course because I wanted it to be the last taste I have on my mouth before I go home, it was the best choice ever.😋
So, the first one from the top left corner is called the Mocha Terraces. One forkful of this and you definitely know it’s mocha. The chiffon is fluffy and light and the sweetness is just right, it’s not overwhelming at all. I imagine this will go so well with a cup of freshly brewed black coffee.☕️
The one in the middle of the first row of the photo above is the Neopolitan Cheesecake. I am a fan of cheesecake, and I tend to be critical of cheesecakes because my best friend, Nikki, makes a mean blueberry cheesecake.
Like seriously, it’s the best blueberry cheesecake I have ever tasted, I miss her more whenever I think she can’t make it for me all the time now because she moved to the US. I miss you Nikki!😢
Nikki’s blueberry cheesecake is always balanced between cheesy, creamy and the flavours of the berries she decides to use complements the entire thing and you just know she didn’t scrimp on any of the ingredients.😊
Having said that, this Neopolitan Cheesecake is like that. No scrimping of ingredients here. That layer of strawberry in the center? Screams STRAWBERRY as did the chocolate layer. Delicious!😋
The one next to the Neopolitan Cheesecake is the Ube Custard Cake. I heard Chakai‘s then 4 year old voice in my head going “Ube! Ube! Ube!”😋 as the first morsel of ube custard cake touched my tastebuds. It’s ube and custard all right. The ube flavored chiffon cake is light and fluffy, the custard is sweet and oh so heavenly. A welcome treat for anyone who loves ube.😋
The first cake in the middle row from the picture above is called the Brownie Fudge. It’s a cheesecake complimented with brownies that were bittersweet and chewy.😋 Needless to say, I loved it. I can see myself eating this while I binge watch sad movies. Why this? Because sad movies are best paired with anything chocolate covered or fried.🍫🍗 This one is definitely chocolate-y enough and the cheesecake base is there to balance it all out.😋
Matcha lovers raise your hand! If you like Matcha, you’ll like this Matchamisu Cake. Sweetmates Cakes do not scrimp on ingredients, you’ll get a full bodied flavor of matcha with just a morsel of this cake. It’s fluffy and light and it’s not just green, it actually tastes like matcha. Now, I didn’t like this because I don’t like Matcha, but I know Chakai would absolutely love this because it screams MATCHA!😂
Finally and most definitely not the least, as this one is my favorite out of everything I’ve eaten that night…😋 The Salted Caramel Cheesecake.😋
It was a perfect blend of sweet and salty and the smooth velvety texture in my mouth is something I can only describe as a foodgasm.😊 I had a foodgasm when the flavours tickled my tastebuds. It made me close my eyes and go, “Mmm… Mm… Mm… Mm… Mmm”. I should really record Lucas making these yummy sounds so you can hear that it’s not as perverted as it reads.😅
It was so good that I knew I wanted to save some so I can actually eat it after the main course.😁
Sweetmates Cakes Now Also Has Rice Meals
Sweetmates Cakes started out as a coffee and pastry shop, but eventually, because we as Pinoys love rice, they had to upgrade their menu to feature our favorite meals. For that night we had a choice of either the Barbecue Liempo or Bistek Tagalog.
Good thing we are OA as we got to try both.😁 “O” had the Barbecue Liempo and I had the Bistek Tagalog as I’m craving for anything beef.😅
I’m going to borrow Xine’s photo of the Barbecue Liempo as the photo got lost when “O” purged photos on his phone. Thank God for foodie blogger friends!😁
The Barbecue Liempo was tender and grilled to perfection. I love the sauce, it was a little bit sweet, but that’s how I like my barbecue sauce.😁
The Bistek Tagalog tasted just the way I want my bistek, a little bit sweet, the raw onions provided a kick though, which is a welcome treat as it’s something different. The beef was a wee bit tough as it’s fighting me a little bit, but it’s beef, that’s to be expected, perhaps beating it more before cooking will make it fight less.😅 Taste was great though so I don’t mind.😋
The Barbecue Liempo and Bistek Tagalog are part of Sweetmates Cakes’ Rice-ivore meals, because we’re Pinoys and we love our rice meals!
Catch these along with Logganisa and Pork and Chicken Adobo for only 150Php in their Abanao branch from October 1-15, 2017!
Coffee, Tea, or Me?
Is what ask “O” every morning.😂 Just kidding.😂 Seriously though, Sweetmates Cakes is one of my favorite places I go to to get drinks when I find myself in SM. I’ve always loved their Italian Sodas and I always go back for their Watermelon Passion, which I also had this night, because I know that I was going to have sweets and I didn’t want my drink to be sweet too (hehe looking at you Xine 😂), I’d need for it to be refreshing and palate cleansing, which was what the Watermelon Passion did for me.
“O”, on the other hand, decided to go with the Banana Rama. It’s a Banana based smoothie with a hint of coffee, whipped cream and a caramel drizzle.
Sweetmates Cakes, Old & New Favorites
I wouldn’t end this post without acknowledging my favorites from Sweetmates. The Big Daddy Cream Puff, the Brownies, the Brownie Fudge Cheesecake and OMG the Salted Caramel Cheesecake.
The Big Daddy Cream Puff, crusty on the outside, chewy on the center and that cream in the middle. Heaven.🤤 That caramel glaze adds a little bit extra too, makes it extra good.🤤
Then the Brownies!
These were fudgy, crusty on the sides, chewy on the inside and they were bitter sweet and amazing!🤤 Just thinking about them make me craaave for them!🤤
I will most definitely be going back for these!🤤
That’s it for me, but you know I won’t shut up about Sweetmates Cakes anytime soon, they do have a special place in this blogger’s heart.😊 But for now, ssshhh… I’m blogging!😁
